Iran opens rehab center

Although drinking is illegal for Muslims under Iran’s strict religious laws, the prohibition is widely ignored. Now, Iranian officials are shedding some light on the issue by opening the country’s first state-run alcohol treatment center, according to the Associated Press.

The center will be at Tehran University’s Medical School. Last year, Iran’s chief of police estimated that there are 200,000 alcoholics in Iran.
