Renew: The adolescent issue

Seventeen-year-old Jake Giffin thought there would at least be a lodge at the wilderness recovery program he was attending. When he was dropped in the middle of the wild – no buildings in site – it was a shock. But the next nine weeks redefined the teen’s life, and helped him get back on track.

Jake is just one of millions of teens whose lives are touched by addiction. In the latest issue of Renew you can learn about sober schools and wilderness programs that set teens on the path to success. There’s a story about a very unique camp that helps the children of addicts (even addicts in recovery) understand their parents’ addiction. And, as usual, our wonderful team of experts and bloggers has shared their thoughts on a variety of subjects.

A story on brain imaging lays out the latest science in this sometimes controversial treatment plan; while model and reality T.V. star Amber Smith opens up about her struggle with codependence.

There’s sure to be something you find useful, comforting, or just plain interesting in Renew’s fall issue. To take a peek and access the digital edition, click here
