The resources on this list will help you take the first steps toward treating your chemical dependencies, modify your use of alcohol or other drugs or any other addictions and hang-ups. Recognizing that you need to do something is the first step toward a more fulfilling life and we urge you to look into these alternatives.

Twelve-Step Fellowships

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Block out any preconceived notions or apprehensions you might have, find a meeting near you on this list, and just go and listen. “Keep what you need and leave the rest” is one motto that works for many people who initially thought that the fellowship might not be for them.

Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA)

A fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships. The only requirement for membership is a desire for healthy and loving relationships.

Crystal Meth Anonymous (CMA)

Crystal Meth Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other, so they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from addiction to crystal meth. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.

Debtors Anonymous

Debtors Anonymous has more than 500 registered meetings in more than 15 countries worldwide.

Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR)

DTR is a program for people with co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. It is a Twelve Step fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope so that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover.

Gamblers Anonymous

A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem.




Marijuana Anonymous

A fellowship of men and women who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

The Third Tradition of NA is “we focus on the disease of addiction rather than any particular drug…. When new members come to meetings, our sole interest is in their desire for freedom from active addiction and how we can be of help.” The best way to find a meeting is through a local NA helpline or website.

Overeaters Anonymous (OA)

Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA. Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope where members respect one another’s anonymity. OA is not just about weight loss, weight gain or maintenance, or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet.

Recovering Couples Anonymous

A fellowship of couples, many of whom participate in other Twelve Step fellowships, who work to solve their common problems and help other recovering couples restore their relationships.

Sexaholics Anonymous (SA)

Sexaholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover.

Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA)

As a fellowship of recovering addicts, Sex Addicts Anonymous offers a message of hope to anyone who suffers from sex addiction. The basic principles of recovery practiced by SAA are found in the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Although it is not affiliated with AA or with any other organization or agency, it modifies and applies the Steps and Traditions to sex addiction, making recovery possible.

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (S.L.A.A.)

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition oriented fellowship based on the model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous. S.L.A.A. is open to anyone who knows or thinks they have a problem with sex addiction, love addiction, romantic obsession, co-dependent relationships, fantasy addiction and/or sexual, social and emotional anorexia.

Sober24

An online fellowship for people with alcoholism and drug addiction based on Twelve Step programs. It includes discussion and chat areas and use of SoberFuse, a recovery management software program.
