Tony winner and Academy Award nominee Viola Davis was honored last weekend during the 23rd annual Friendly House Awards Luncheon as Woman of the Year.
Stars, honorees and recovery advocates came out in Los Angeles Saturday, Oct. 27, for the annual event.
In addition to Davis’ honor, Sumer Redstone was honored as Friendly House’s Humanitarian of the Year and Dr. Pat Allen was recognized for her Excellence in Service.
Comedian and actor Russell Brand—who was named Friendly House’s 2011 Man of the Year and the newest board member—was asked back this year as Master of Ceremonies.
Founded in 1951, Friendly House LA is the oldest women’s recovery home in the U.S., providing a place for women suffering from alcoholism and drug abuse. The organization is solely supported by private donations.
