October 4, 2012Nicole Scherzinger reveals her recovery from self-harming
Nicole Scherzinger, a judge on “The X Factor” U.K., has revealed that she is in recovery from self-harming.
According to Examiner, she made the public confession for the first time in a “Behind the Music” episode about her, which VH1 will air Oct. 7, 2012, at 9 p.m. EST.
Scherzinger — who is a former member of the the music group Pussycat Dolls — says in a promo for the episode: “I must be an artist because I'm f-ed up! When I close the door, I'm not who you think.”
Scherzinger's mother, Rosemary, also adds she “didn't realize that disease that [Scherzinger] had. She kept it from us.”
“I just hated myself,” Scherzinger continues. “I was in a group but I never felt so alone in my life … I never did drugs, but hurting myself was my addiction. The music is what saved me. That's the only thing I can trust.”
Demi Lovato, a judge for “The X Factor” U.S., has also struggling with addiction issues in the public eye. The musician went to rehab in 2010 for several issues, including self-harming, substance abuse and eating disorders.
Scherzinger became a judge on “The X Factor” U.K. in June 2012.
