Much rumor and speculation surrounded the hospitalization of rapper Lil Wayne, but this constant remained in all reports from credible news sources: He had an extended stay in an intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a drug overdose earlier this month.
His drug of choice was “sizzurp,” a concoction of cough medicine and codeine (for more detailed information on sizzurp, see. Dr. Harris Stratyner's latest blog post in Voices of Recovery on reneweveryday.com), the sources said.
After a sizzurp binge, Lil Wayne became unconscious, and most sources said was put in a medically induced coma due to uncontrollable shaking. Many reports said he was given his last rites as the medical team did not expect him to pull through.
Earlier this week the rap celebrity Tweeted, “I'm Good Everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”
Most reports said Lil Wayne was released from the hospital mid-week this week.
