Alcoholics Annonymous has been helping people achieve sobriety for eight decades. Although the organization's 80th year is officially being celebrated from July 2 to 5 at the International Conference, June 10 is widely acknowledge as the day that AA founder Dr. Bob took his last drink, and set the organization in motion.
Today, AA has helped millions of people get sober, and engrained 12 step programs in American culture. According to the organization, there’s A.A. literature available in more than 85 languages and an A.A. presence in more than 170 countries.
See the summer issue of Renew for more on this milestone, and what the future holds for Alcoholics Anonymous.
