Matthew Perry, the comic straight-guy Chandler Bing from the popular sitcom, “Friends,” has had a long struggle with drug addiction.
In 1997 he completed a 28-day program for a Vicodin addiction. In 2001, suffering from pancreatitis and severe stomach pain, he re-entered rehab for addictions to Vicodin and Methadone, as well as amphetamines and alcohol.
Amidst his public struggles, he has been outspoken about why he needed to get clean.
“I got sober because I was afraid I was going to die next year,” he said in an interview.
