ABC news anchor Elizabeth Vargas, 51, has entered rehab for alcoholism for the second time in a year.
Vargas said in a statement, “”As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process. I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry.”
The 20/20 anchor first entered treatment last November. At the time, she said that she realized that she was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol. Vargas has two sons, ages 8 and 10, with country-singer husband Marc Cohn.
ABC News said in a statement that the network looks forward to Vargas returning to work when she is ready.
